So Clear and Cold

I need to study the science of air in winter. There has to be some scientific reason for why the night is so beautiful. It's darker, yet light seems to shine farther. The light also seems cleaner, crisper, more clear. I love it. I remember in Physics learning how sound traveled differently at night - down instead of up. I don't remember ever learning about light though. Maybe it's my imagination. Maybe it has something to do with the snow.

This would be the perfect entry to have a picture with, alas, I have none. I've found my digital camera to be crap at taking night shots, and by the time I got the film in my good camera developed, winter would probably be over.
