5. Yes, I agree with that. Sam's always been more together than Dean - but I think that's largely because for the most part (except when hopped up on demon-blood) he's been more self-aware than Dean.
Re: YED and Sam - I thought the issue of Sam going back to school was a non-issue after John died. Sam threw himself back into Hunting then in order to please his father posthumously...which Dean totally called him on...and then as soon as the YED was killed, Sam discovered that Dean had made a deal and was heading to hell in a year - so of course he wasn't going to go back to school.
