My favourite Valentine's Day to date was the one I spent playing video games with my best friend. He didn't even realize what day it was - but I have a vivid memory of him killing me in the video game for the hundredth time and then turning to me with a huge smile on his face and declaring in all sincerity: "This is the best day EVER!"

It might seem odd to some, but I had never felt more loved and appreciated. I talked to him on skype last night, and he still makes me feel loved and appreciated 8 years later. No matter what my romantic status, or how far apart we are geographically, I know that I can always count on him to be there for me. 

So, here's to best friends everywhere, whether you are sleeping with them or not. ;)

And now I'm going to stop being sappy and get back to work...

I have to comment just to say I LOVE that quote you posted. I've never read it before but it's brilliant. I have never done anything for Valentine's Day ever. Most of the time I don't even know when Valetine's Day is. So actually, I love your story too. :) I want a friend like that.

I'm glad you like the quote! I never do anything for Valentine's Day either - though, I've never been in a romantic relationship over Valentine's day, so that's probably why.

I wish you find a friend like mine too! Mind you, if my best friend saw this, he'd be like "Good lord! Don't wish someone like me on that nice girl! What's wrong with you?!" Haha...so, maybe I'll wish that you'll find a friend that's even better ;)

Based on experience, I completely agree with this statement.

Also, I've never really been in a romantic relationship either...at least, not as defined by most of society. And certainly none that involved candy and flowers.
