Funny, the map of Canada makes James Bay look like a no-man's land between Ontario and Quebec instead of water...same with that bit up in Northern Quebec I think.
Anyway, umm...yeah, that map of Canada is what happens when you go to school in Newfoundland and then later decide to move to Vancouver. Some day maybe I'll make it above the tree line...

And yes...we were driving to Disney World. Other than that, I've really just been to New York City (while staying at a hotel in New Jersey to save money), Boston, and Seattle.

Date: 2011-01-27 08:11 pm (UTC)I would really like to go to Bretagne (am I spelling that right?), so perhaps some day I will go back and see more of France - maybe if I have someone who speaks the language to come with me...right now, I can't afford it anyway.

Date: 2011-01-27 08:42 pm (UTC)You're spelling Bretagne right :) I went there on holidays. It was lovely but very rainy. And if you come back to France, give me a shout, I wouldn't mind playing translator :)

Date: 2011-01-27 08:46 pm (UTC)Though, that being said, my best friend wanted to take a wine-tasting tour of the Napa Valley, so if he ever showed up on my doorstep all set to do that - then I'd go along for sure.

Date: 2011-01-27 08:53 pm (UTC)I really thought it was beautiful around Colmar and Strasbourg. And as for Bretagne being rainy...well, I live in Vancouver right now, so I'm sure I'd be fine ;)
And I will totally take you up on that translator offer if I ever get enough money to travel again! I've banned international travel for 2011 (to try to get into a better financial situation)...but I'd be impressed if I went more than two years without taking a big trip. Usually there comes a point where I just snap and buy an plane ticket on a whim.

Date: 2011-01-27 08:55 pm (UTC)Anyway, I'm heading down to Seattle in a couple of weeks for the first time in my life (yeah, lived in Vancouver all my life and never been to Seattle) so that'll be fun at least. Going to see the Harry Potter exhibit! And possibly the live Dr. Horrible production that will be on at the time.

Date: 2011-01-27 09:04 pm (UTC)Every time I went to the states, someone else was driving (except for my trips to Seattle). I took a tour bus to New York and Boston, and my dad drove us down to Disney World.
But yeah, traveling in the states kind of gives me the creeps...which is a shame, because technically I've been to places with more social atrocities and not felt that creeped out. But yeah, just the fact that it looks similar to Canada, but the mindset is so very different...always feels like I've entered the Twilight Zone and anything could happen to me.
Also, the food sucks. Even things that taste good in Canada, taste horrible in the States...at least the packaged food anyway. Restaurants were ok, if they weren't fast-food or generic pizza.
But yeah, the countryside itself in the states is very beautiful. If you haven't seen the leaves in Autumn in the east, you really should. It's something that I REALLY miss from back home.

Date: 2011-01-27 10:57 pm (UTC)And heh, really? Never noticed the food thing, but then I haven't been there much and not for a few years.
I must have seen some leaves when I spent a year in Ontario at school, but I didn't get out into the countryside so I didn't really get to experience them. So yeah, that'd be cool. There's definitely a lot of beautiful scenery down there.
