Definitely fun, I kind of love picking out historical "what-ifs". What makes this interesting is that given how small the Wizarding population is compared to Muggles, it's likely that the Muggle world would have influenced Wizarding politics leading to new "what-ifs" and some interesting scenarios.

I was actually discussing this with my housemate today and we decided that since Wizards went into hiding a couple of centuries ago (don't have books handy to look that up, geek points lost: 10) they probably just followed the Muggle political divisions to keep things simpler. This is why Ireland and Britain have separate teams for the Quidditch World Cup, but Scotland does not. This also allows for Muggle-born witches and wizards to live both worlds without excess paperwork. (Although it's way more boring) What this doesn't answer is how the Wizarding world reacts to Muggle political upheavals and conflicts. In the case of NAm, who won/fought the American Revolution, War of 1812, and the Metis Rebellion(s)? A bit closer to HP and more current, what did wizards do when Hitler bombed London? Just for thought. Possibly I'll write my own fic about this one day. Or not.
