And yeah, that would be easier...BUT, you can't fit two people under the cloak...by either the fourth or fifth book, even Ron had gotten too tall to hide under the cloak with Harry - when they tried it, their feet showed. I could have reminded people about that in the chapter, I suppose...but the cloak really is for single person use, and the Winchesters are very big men. ;)
