I think my biggest complaint about this episode was Gandhi being Sam's hero. It was very random and felt like he was picked so it could be joked about. I think there are a better options for Sam's hero. And then it looked like John was Dean's hero, even after all the eye-opening not-in-a-good-way revelations Dean had had in seasons 3 & 4.
The premise of the the boys' heroes threw the episode off for me. The actual dialog between the boys was certainly deep enough to satisfy.
And that whole character development thing? Double-edged sword. It's awesome how they have changed, realistic, makes the show special. But sad, too, because early boys were so much fun. Wondering how it will feel after the first few new episodes...
