How tall is Sam in Britain?

That is to say: how would someone in the UK measure Jared's height? They wouldn't use feet and inches like we do in North America for height...what do they use instead? Meters? What's the equivalent of 6'4'' in UK-speak? What about 6'1''? or just 6 feet?

Help would be appreciated!

ok, using this handy converter, 6'4 is 193cm, 6'1 is 185cm, and 6'0 is 183cm. (That is with the rounded results checked. Without, it's 193.04, 185.42, and 182.88, respectively.)

CM stands for centimeters.

Hope that helps!

Aw. I was hoping Sam would be over two meters. Bah.

(And I'm one of the ones wants the US to go metric...fine job I'm doing of making that possible.)

Would like to point out that we do use feet and inches here for height. I've never been given my height in cms even when having a checkup at the doctors it's always been 5'4" everytime. Hope that helps.

Canada is metric in everything except for measuring our height and weight (and usually floor-plans of houses and building supplies give measurements in both - I can visualize feet between than centimeters or meters though, so I use the feet and inches thing.)

I think we could go fully metric if there was a standard metric length similar to the "foot" - the problem for me is that centimeters are too small and meters are too large. I want things measured by a length in between.

Really?! Oh cool! So you are like us...hmm...so, if someone was casually talking about someone's height, would they be more likely to just say 6'5''?

Decimeter? Ten cm is about four inches.

Yeah, that's still a bit small though, isn't it? Ah well...maybe we can just say that "Foot" means "three decimeters" and claim that we are completely metric ;)

Oh, cool! Glad I could help!

Doesn't work. 2.54 cm / in, not 2.5.

Well, 2 meters is somewhere between 6'6 and 6'7, so Sam's a bit too short.

(Personally, though I think Jared is actually 6'5 and he just says he's 6'4.)

I actually agree with you. I have a theory that when he started the show he was 6'4'', but that he actually grew another inch somewhere between S1 and S2. I know 22 or 23 is a bit old for growing, but my uncle was close to that age when he had his final growth spurt, so it's possible.

That's entirely possible. I know my Mom grew an inch sometime between the ages of 18 and 22.

(Also, awesome icon.)

Thanks!

I figure Jared pretty much confirmed it in Barcelona when a fan asked him about how much he changed physically between S1 and now, and he stated that he was a late bloomer, and had been a very "young 22."

I'd be interested to have him officially measured, but that's not something you can really ask of someone without coming across creepy :P

Pretty much yes. That's how I've always said it when someones asked me my height.

Good to know. I think I might still leave what I have in centimeters though, because it sounds funnier...but yeah, that's cool. Thanks!

Hear what you're saying but it's always feet and inches in the UK. Honest.

Awesome, well, maybe I'll change it back...we'll see how I feel when I go to post the chapter.

I was sure you guys said it differently, but maybe I was thinking of other countries...

Thanks for confirming!

Hi there, well the rest of continental Europe /do/ use the metric system.
In fact, I'm Italian and I use an on-line Metric/Imperial converter the rare times I'm dealing with UK feet, inches and whatnot. ;)

That must have been what confused me. I lived for a bit in Germany and I just figured it was an all-of-Europe thing to use metric for height, not just a continental Europe thing.
