Day 13 - Favorite childhood show

Well...

Due South - was the first show that I wanted all the episodes for rewatching purposes - First show that I looked up online, and also the show I was watching when I first discovered fanfiction (in all it's varieties).

I'm not sure that counts as childhood, since I was a teenager...there was also...

Boy Meets World - what can I say, I'm a sucker for bromance.

Favorite CHILDhood show though, would have to be Star Trek: TNG and MacGyver.

Sadly, MacGyver does not stand the test of time, and now when I watch it I just find it horribly cheesy, and I wonder why on earth I didn't realize how unflattering that mullet was...then I remember that I ALSO had a mullet back then, and then have to change the channel before more horrible memories resurface.

The theme song still gets me all excited like when I was a kid - and I mean, I liked boy meets world, so obviously I don't have a problem with cheese. I think my problem with rewatching MacGyver is that I my childhood brain did not know it was that cheesy, so I spend the whole episode thinking "wow...this is...different than I remember."

But, it IS a classic!

i guess that part of my childhood brain that didn't know "cheesy" never grew up. if i watch something now that people say is cheesy, if there's an actor in i like, i can't "see it" - does that make sense?

but, i do watch things i did before and see them as different. but my brain doesn't seem to comprehend "cheesy" sometimes.

I guess that makes a kind of sense. I still enjoy cheesy shows, but I can't NOT recognize them as cheesy. Mind you, I grew up with a VERY discerning older brother who had high standards television and low-tolerance for cheese (though, for some reason that never extended to Star Trek)...so, it was probably ingrained in my early. (I would like to point out though, that he ALSO watched MacGyver, but then, he was a kid then too.)

ahh, discerning. what a good word.

i grew up watching PBS, cause that was all my parents would allow.... and it wasn't until high school i discovered other channels.

when i was a kid, Tom Baker was Doctor #4, and i thought that was the best thing ever. however, NOW i can discern that as cheesy. most other stuff, not so much.
