June Ficlet: Hunters Like Us (Teen Wolf/Supernatural crossover)

Today the dice chose another prompt from the prompting post - specifically, [livejournal.com profile] metallidean_grl's prompt.

Prompt: How about a fic that incorporates a little bit of your dream from the other night where the Winchesters run into Argent on a random hunt. The hunt doesn't necessarily have to involve werewolves, but some other creature, and not have it be in the town where Teen Wolf takes place, but have it in some other town that Argent is investigating on his own and he runs into the Winchesters and they team up together on this hunt a little unwillingly.

Now, Supernatural (S8+) and Teen Wolf have similar werewolf mythology, but it's different enough that I wouldn't ordinarily write a crossover for these two shows, because it's hard to marry them in a way that makes sense for both canons. But, since this is just ficlet month, I will allow stories that fly in the face of canon. Also, I will allow stories to fly in the face of timelines - because Teen Wolf is actually still stuck in 2011 - their timeline moves VERY SLOWLY, but I've got them meeting up with a circa S9 Sam and Dean (which would be either 2014 or 2016).

Also, because Chris Argent is, right now, possibly the most tragic figure on Teen Wolf, this story is unavoidably angsty.

This was also an experiment in my just writing for an hour and a half straight and seeing where the story took me and not really planning it out that much... I also ended it when I felt like everything interesting had pretty much been said. So, yeah, not sure how polished this one will feel, since I didn't fuss over it very much.

Hunters Like Us
Words: 1,511
Major Spoilers: Season 3b of Teen Wolf. (Seriously, MAJOR SPOILER). Minor spoilers for SPN S9.

They ran into the hunter in the great room – standing with a bloody machete and two corpses at his feet. )

The End.

Oh man, let me tell you, making it to day 20 is an accomplishment. I am losing steam here! The goal was to write every day, which I've done plenty of times before in my life for months at a time - I think I just underestimated how much more difficult it is to write something NEW every day.

June Ficlet: Melissa's Story (Teen Wolf) Spoilers for S2

Today the dice roll chose [livejournal.com profile] liliaeth's prompt! Yay! I think this month's lesson is that I'm much happier when my prompt is very specific.

Prompt: I just desperately need to read something that deals with how Scott and Melissa regained their close bond after she found out that Scott's a werewolf. The show skipped over this way too quickly and the McCall family relationship is probably my fave interaction on Teen Wolf.

This is another fic written (mostly) in the present tense. Hopefully it's not annoying, but I wanted to do it sort of stream-of-consciousness style and the present tense is best for that. Also, I had the day off work (not by choice, but because of system troubles), so this peace is a little bit on the longer side.

This is actually my headcanon for what happened...

Melissa's Story

June Ficlet: The Future (Supernatural)

Today's dice told me to choose a prompt from yalumesse's list. The prompt the dice chose was #26, which became my...

Prompt #1: in a tense you don't often use

Of course, the problem with me is that I need prompts that tell me what to write ABOUT, not how to write. Also, technically I already did that this month, because The Time Traveler is written in the present tense which I rarely use (I pretty much always stick to past tense, I'm not sure if you've noticed). So, at first I was just going to take the day off - but I have a pretty good record for writing every day so far... so I didn't really want to ruin that (though I'm sure it's only a matter of time).

So, I decided that since I'm in charge around here, what I would do would be to scroll through the prompting post and see if anyone left a prompt that would be good to write in a weird tense that wasn't past or present. And lo and behold...

Prompt #2: We saw Dean fishing and peaceful in a dream, why is that his happy place? ([livejournal.com profile] sylvia_locust)

And so...

The Future
Words: 317

June Ficlet: Take (Supernatural) crack

Today, we see what happens when I don't like a prompt.

Basically, it went like this:
*rolls dice* - Okay, daily-prompt again, let's see what it is...

Prompt: Take

Take? Take. Take as in just one word... what the hell am I going to do with that?!

So, yeah, I wrote the first thing that came to mind....

Take
Words: 201

June Ficlet: Half Destroyed (Captain America, MCU) Gen

I know, I know, another Captain America fic, but the dice today choose daily-prompt, and the prompt was a picture of Europe (or at least that's what it looked like to me) - specifically, continental Europe... so, what was I supposed to do? Supernatural and Teen Wolf are both US based shows, Sherlock and Merlin are the UK... but MCU has a very well traveled cast of characters.

And so, here's a little Winter Soldier character piece for you, set pre-CA:TWS.

Prompt:

credit: union* @flickr

Half Destroyed
Words: 642

I know this place, but half destroyed )

The End.

(The picture is actually Slovakia, which I'm not sure if Steve and Bucky were ever in during the war, but let's pretend that they were... even though I'm pretty sure that area was liberated by the Russians. But, I mean, come on, it's Captain America, I really shouldn't be worried about historical accuracy!)

June Ficlet: Meet me in SoHo (MCU/demented'verse) implied Clint/Natasha

This is a special June ficlet that covers two days. On June 14th (which is still "today" for me, because I haven't gone to bed yet) the dice told me to use a prompt from yalumesse's list. The prompt it chose was...

Prompt: features a pairing breaking up.

And I thought about it while I ate breakfast, and I realized that I don't like break-up fics, but I also realized that in a certain way, it fit with an idea I had for one of the prompts left in my prompting post... and that I could still fill the prompt without having to break up a couple that I didn't want to break up.

This also works out, because I'm going to be really busy on June 15th (today, even though I still need to sleep). So, I decided that I would use my powers as god of this month of ficlets to veto the dice roll on Sunday, and instead combine today's prompt with [livejournal.com profile] franztastisch's prompt from the prompting post and write an extra long "ficlet" that would serve as both Saturday AND Sunday's ficlets. So...

Prompt #2: Nate/Avengers crossover [specifically Nate/MCU featuring Clint/Natasha]

For those that don't know, Nate is an OC of mine from the Demented'verse. He is one of Teddy's friends from Hogwarts. And again, just in case anyone is worried - this isn't a break-up fic, though it does feature a pairing breaking up.

Meet me in SoHo
Words: 2,424

Clint hadn’t been due to hear from SHIELD that day, so he knew something was wrong even before he decided to answer the call. )

June Ficlet: Sam's Birthdays (Supernatural) poem-fic?

Today the dice decided that I should do a prompt fro yalumesse's 30 day prompt list. The prompt the dice chose...

Prompt: is set on a character's birthday/anniversary/some other annual Special Day in their verse

Now, with a prompt like that, I pretty much have to do a Supernatural fic - since I work so hard on the timeline and knowing what happens when on that show. Also, today happens to be [livejournal.com profile] raloria's birthday (Happy Birthday, [livejournal.com profile] raloria!), as well as my best friend's birthday (he doesn't read this LJ, but I still love him). So, I thought, well, a birthday it is then... and since more stuff happens on Sam's birthday, I chose it.

The other thing you have to know is that I was reading poetry right before I started writing this... and that will become VERY apparent when you read it. I basically wrote a Supernatural Poem-fic, but with a few stanzas that are jarringly out of rhythm and rhyme.

Sam's Birthdays...
Words: 432

But no, that was wrong. And when Sam turns twenty-three, Jessica’s six months gone. )

The End.

As a special post-script, here's a poem I wrote once about my best friend:

There's a way you look at me )

Alright, that's the end of weird poetry day. I promise to never let that happen again. :P

June Ficlet: Senior Auror Phil O'Shaughnessy (demented'verse, HP/SPN)

Today I rolled the dice and got a 3, then I realized I had accidentally rolled my d20 instead of my d12, so I rolled the d12... and got a 3. :P

Which means that today's prompt came from daily-prompt. The prompt is "New England", and well, the first character that sprang to mind was my OC from the demented'verse, Phil. For any of you who don't know, the demented'verse is my HP/SPN crossover series.

Since I've been toying with writing another update to that series, I decided to write how the next story might begin from Phil's point of view - but it also turned into a little exploration of Phil's character and how he views Harry.

Prompt: New England

Senior Auror Phil O'Shaughnessy
Words: 671

Just because Phil could break the rules and get away with it, didn’t mean that he should. )

June Ficlet: The Manipulation Theory (Supernatural) S8 fix-it

I am so exhausted. I got 4 hours of sleep last night, because I'm an idiot... and now it's nearly midnight and I've been awake forever, and ugh...

So, my humblest apologies for the kind of... haphazard fic today.

The dice rolled a 1, I guess to make up for the 11 of yesterday. 1 means that I use a daily-prompt. Since I've been doing a lot of MCU stuff the past few days, and since the today's daily-prompt allowed for it, I figured I'd switch things up with a Supernatural ficlet.

I decided to sort of do a bit of a fix-it for S8, because you all should know by now that I had problems with the front-end of that season, specifically Sam's storyline... now, I have several different headcanons that could explain away the problem, and today's prompt pointed at which one I could write about. (Lord god, I'm tired. I hope these words make sense.)

Prompt:
It’s that time to transform
To come around, I’m changin’
Oh, there’s an angel knockin’ on my window
Tryin’ to tell me where to go next
It’s a small town without you
It feels cold, it’s creepin’
Moving on
I look ahead instead
-Paris; Little Dragon

The Manipulation Theory
Words: 596

June Ficlet: You Are Getting Sleepy (Captain America, MCU) slight Steve/Bucky

Today the dice rolled an 11! Amazing! I haven't rolled higher than a 5 since June 1st.

An 11 meant that I got to choose a prompt from YOU GUYS. The secondary dice roll decided that today I would be using [livejournal.com profile] katsheswims' prompt. (FYI: You can still prompt me by going to my prompt post and leaving one there.)

Prompt: Hmmm, maybe something in MCU with Steve (and others) attempting to help Bucky get his mind back together/his memories back via hypnosis [not that I think that would be a great idea in real life--so hey it could go badly too...].

I decided to go for something lighthearted rather than tragic or too serious - mainly because yesterday's ficlet was on the serious side, and also because I'm pretty skeptical when it comes to hypnosis. Also, making it lighthearted meant I could reuse a joke that my sister once pulled on me when I set up a recording device in her room to prove to her that she talked in her sleep.

So... to the fic...

You Are Getting Sleepy
Words: 1,625
Spoilers: Post-Captain America: The Winter Soldier.
Special Appearances by: Tony Stark

“Please,” Tony said. “You trust me way more than you’d trust any professional hypnotist – come on! It’ll be fun! What’s the worst that can happen? It either works or it doesn’t, and Steve will be there the whole time, so you know your virtue is safe-” )

The End.

Hope you enjoyed it!

June Ficlet: The Time Traveler (Captain America, MCU)

Today, I rolled a 5 for the third day in a row, which means that the prompt comes, yet again, from yalumesse's 30 day prompt list.

The secondary dice roll declared that I do prompt #26.

Prompt: out of chronological order (backwards, back-and-forth, etc - anything but linear)

This prompt actually kind of fit in with an idea I already had for a fic, so I decided to just write that. Of course, because I had been developing this idea for a while, it ended up much longer than my usual ficlet... also, I spent 3-4 hours on it instead of working at my actual job.

Once again, it's Captain America (MCU), because it's my current fandom obsession, apparently.

June Ficlet: Words Optional (Clint Barton-Hawkeye, MCU)

I am so far behind on what I needed to get done today, but I just took an hour to write this... so, my dedication to June Ficlets is still strong!

Today the dice chose another prompt from yalumesse's 30 day prompt list. (see previous entry for the link, I'm lazy.)

The Prompt: two characters communicating without words and/or having to verbally mislead a third character.

I went with, primarily, the first bit of the prompt, though I do think I have a touch of the second part too...

It's another Marvel Cinema Universe fic, because I couldn't resist using my headcanon for Hawkeye while I still have a chance. He's still pretty much a blank page when it comes to the MCU, so nothing I've written has technically been jossed. There's optional Clint/Natasha in this story too, if you go for that kind of thing.

Words Optional
Words: 785
Spoiler warning: This takes place post-Captain America: The Winter Soldier; and therefore also post-S1 Agents of SHIELD.

June Ficlet: The Rising (Captain America - MCU), Historial AU, Steve/Bucky/Peggy (implied heavily)

Today the dice actually rolled something other than a 4! (They rolled a 5!) That meant that I got to roll another set of die in order to choose a prompt from yalumesse's 30 day prompt list.

The prompt: #19. Historical Alternate Universe

Point of honesty: I'm not a huge fan of Historical AUs, probably because I studied history. So, I was slightly at a loss for what to write. I mentioned it to [livejournal.com profile] franztastisch and she sent me some suggestions. One of which was a Steve/Bucky story set during the Easter Rising in 1916 - because [livejournal.com profile] franztastisch knows what I wrote my MA thesis about. ;) She then went on to suggest that I make it Steve/Bucky/Peggy, because it's fun to throw in a British love-interest when you're writing about Irish nationalism... and also threesomes, yay!

In the interest of time, I've made the Steve/Bucky/Peggy ship already established. Also, I realize that it's a bit unbelievable that a woman would live with two guys in 1916 in a Catholic country, but you'll just have to cut me some slack - I'm hoping that I've kind of hand-waved it enough.

So, I present to you my MA thesis in fic form!

The Rising
(Steve/Bucky/Peggy, pre-serum Steve,pre-Winter Soldier Bucky, Historical AU)
Words: 1,776

The next day, they arrested Bucky. )

The End.

*The last line, starting at "if mere bloodshed..." is taken from an editorial in the Freeman's Journal, from May 10th, 1916 (page 2). (Sorry, me=historian, therefore must cite.)

I actually reread my entire MA thesis to write this, by the way, so that I could get things right.

June Ficlet: Storming the Castle (Supernatural)

It's still the 6th where I am!

So, today's ficlet is about the boys and Charlie playing D&D, because I had to vent my frustration about my dice... which ONCE AGIAN chose a daily-prompt prompt for like the billionth day in a row.

Today's prompt is: A Change of Plans.

For those of you who have never played D&D, there are a variety of common superstitions surrounding dice and luck for most players... the biggest ones of which is that 1)dice can be unlucky, and 2)other people touching your dice can make them unlucky.

The other thing that might be important to know is that I essentially wrote this in 10 minutes because it's nearly midnight and I've had a long day. I swear to god these fics will get better, but right now I'm still just working on the discipline of writing SOMETHING every day.

Storming the Castle
Words: 466

“Change of plans, guys,” Charlie declared. “We cannot storm the castle tonight!” )

The End.

So, I really hope that my twelve-sided die starts giving me something other than fours! Not that I don't like daily-prompt, but it's infinitely harder to come up with ficlets from really vague prompts than it is to use your guys' more detailed prompts or something from the 30 day prompt list.

3 minutes until midnight! Must post!

June Ficlet - I am drunk tonight

So, today the dice choose another daily-prompt. And the daily-prompt today was "In a valley"

And I thought, "I have no idea what to write".. because in Supernatural, the name Dean means "valley" and in Merlin there's the valley of The Fallen Kings, and in Sherlock, it was in a valley that Henry or whatever his name was saw the Hound... and Bucky fell into a valley in Captain America...

And I thought "I will write this ficlet at the end of the day, so that I have ALL DAY to think of it", but the problem was that I was going out to a concert in the evening. "But that's okay," I thought. "Because it ends early and I will be home by like, 10 or something, and maybe the music will inspire me to write about valleys or whatever."

But then the ticket came with beer.. and then my friend bought more beer.. and I have had a lot of beer. I drank, um, their IPA, which is really really hoppy and I didn't like it much. So I drank a Pilsner, which was like sex in a canoe - fucking close to water. So I switched to their amber lager, and that was just right, so I had a couple of those... maybe more than a couple.

And I did have a burger somewhere in there, and I danced a bit.. but let's face it, folks, I am a lightweight. So I am very drunk right now. Even more so than on Tuesday nights. My friend vomited, but I held it together! I am a proud of me... because I wanted to vomit, but I didn't! Yay! Go me! Keep it all inside, kids.

So, should I write a ficlet tonight? Am I even capable of writing a ficlet tonight? Let's see....

June Ficlet: You Only Know What I Want You To (Captain America, MCU) Steve/Bucky (G)

Oh man, so after getting only four hours of sleep last night, I rolled the dice before writing group this morning...

The dice once again chose daily-prompt. I cringed, because I knew that I had no ideas for the next prompt (working backwards from the last post) on that site. So, I went to writing group and worked on my latest attempt at a novel instead... and man, Wednesdays are going to be horrible for getting daily fics done. I can already tell. I'm so exhausted... mind you, it's my own damn fault for staying up too late. I should stop doing that.

Blah blah blah... long story short, at the end of the day I checked daily-prompt again and they actually had a new prompt! So, I wrote to that one instead.

Another Captain America fic (sorry to the most of you, who aren't in that fandom and couldn't care less)...

Prompt:
You only know what I want you to
I know everything you don't want me to
Oh your mouth is poison, your mouth is wine
You think your dreams are the same as mine
Oh I don't love you but I always will

I always will

You Only Know What I Want You To
Words: 532

Kind of a bit of a darker piece again. I keep hoping the dice will roll me a comedy, but alas! If I were actually playing D&D with them right now, I'd be losing a fight.

If you wanted, you could believe this is the same universe as my previous Captain America fic. Fun! Maybe that should be something I try to do during this month... make my drabbles be in the same 'verse. We'll see.

Today's ficlet has extremely mild spoilers for Captain America: The Winter Soldier (seriously, if you saw the trailer, then you already know these spoilers.)

Daily Fics in June

Last year I tried Daily Fics in April, and lasted roughly 22 days... I'm going to attempt to do something similar in June this year.

BUT WITH A TWIST!

Last year I just used daily_prompt, over at dreamwidth. This year, I want to try something a little different.

This year, I'd like to do a combination of random prompts and prompts by YOU. So, I'm going to be devising a clever way to use my D&D dice to randomly select either a prompt from daily_prompt, a prompt from yalumesse's 30 day prompt list, or a prompt from the comments of this entry (if there are any).

So, please leave a prompt in comments!

Fandoms:
Most of you know what I'm into... but....
1. Supernatural
2. Teen Wolf (I have never actually written a Teen Wolf fic before, nor had the desire to, but maybe that should change?)
3. Marvel Cinematic Universe - with emphasis on Captain America (Similar to Teen Wolf, I've been reading a LOT of Bucky/Steve fics after seeing CA:WS... not sure if I'm capable of writing anything, since I'm not that familiar with the characters apart from the movies, but who knows!)
4. Merlin
5. Sherlock (I've actually lost a bit of interest in Sherlock recently, at least, in the idea of writing/reading fic... but I figured I'd include it, since I have written it in the past.)
..... I can't think of any others, but if there's something you know I like that I've forgotten, you can prompt for it. If I don't know it, then I'll let you know.

Rules:
1. Slash is dependent on fandom: I don't write slash in Supernatural. I DO write slash in other fandoms.... I doubt I can write a Merlin fic without slash, or at least pre-slash. If you want me to write slash for Teen Wolf though, I get really picky about pairings. So, if you prompt for a pairing that I don't like, I'll either ask you to change it or I'll make it non-sexual. On that note: probably none of these fics will get too explicit, my mother reads this journal... so, yeah, you can prompt for emotional porn, but don't prompt actual porn.

2. You can leave as many prompts as you like, within reason... but just one prompt per comment so that it's easier for me to organize the dice throw.

3. You can prompt for fics set in previous fics I wrote... like, The Demented'verse or The Unfortunate Brother'verse... those get a little bit iffy about whether I can fill them though, so don't get your hopes up. The more I write in a 'verse, the more complicated it gets to write in that 'verse.

.... I guess that's it? Hopefully some of you actually prompt me... otherwise I'll feel a little unloved. I think there's been a bit of a turnover in my flist since I was heavy into fic-writing, so I'm a little concerned that some of you don't even know that I write fic and only know that I get drunk on Tuesdays and write about the show... but that's probably just a false-belief I have because lately that's all it feels like I've been doing.
