Dean's Red and Yellow Plaid Shirt



In a move atypical of Dean, he acquires a very loud plaid shirt in S8. This shirt looks to be flannel and cozy. It’s white, blue, red, and yellow – with red and yellow being the more prominent colours. It has two breast pockets and does up with snaps (again, atypical of Dean’s taste.)

APPEARANCES:

In Everybody Hates Hitler (8x13), Dean wears this shirt the morning after Sam and Aaron are attacked by the necromancer at the library. He keeps it on until the necromancers are defeated and disposed of.

In The Great Escapist (8x21), Dean is wearing this shirt when he and Sam arrive at the hotel in Colorado in the hopes of finding Metatron. He keeps it on until Sam’s ice bath and then changes out of it (presumably, because it got wet.)

Just wearing a plaid shirt is atypical for Dean, as in the previous seasons he was wearing mostly monochrome shirts. So, the fact that he is now wearing patterned shirts more often is definitely interesting. I wonder what prompted the clothes people to buy all these new shirts.

I don't know, it's a little odd. I know that they often dress the brother's either complementary or not-complementary, depending on the status of their relationship... so maybe it's tied in with that somehow?

From what one of the costume directors told me last year, they do try to make sure that at least Dean and Sam wear complementary colors to each other. It would be interesting to note what Sam is wearing when Dean is wearing these plaid shirts.

This is my favourite plaid shirt in the entire show. I call it the Plaid Shirt of Sex. I really want to see this one again. Thank you for tracking these shirts!

Unfortunately, I have no idea where you buy these shirts. You can try places like Mark's Work Warehouse - but you're really on your own there.

I'm sorry, I live in England so I don't know what/where Mark's Work Warehouse is? Is there a website, or is it some kind of huge charity like salvage place in America?

Other than that, your best bet is to try places like ebay and the like... I know there are forums somewhere where people sometimes discuss clothes found on TV shows, but unfortunately - despite this project - I'm not a member of that community, so I can't help you there.
