Season 6 Clothes COMPLETE!

I have now posted ALL CLOTHING FROM S6* for my If Clothes Could Talk project.

The S6 pie graph is almost identical to the S5 pie graph - which means that our Winchester clothing ratios do not change, even when they spend a year apart and Dean domesticates himself.

Sam total=43, Dean total=29

Does Dean buy more new clothes when he isn't hunting?

Only a little bit. Dean bought 6 new articles of clothing in S6. Sam, meanwhile, bought 14.

I don't know about you, but if I were Sam in 6x12, I would be wondering why Dean had bought me 12 new shirts and 2 new jackets while I had been trapped in the cage....and why they were already broken in so well...I think that should have been his first clue that maybe there was more to his resurrection than Dean was telling him.

Finally, we get a breakdown by type:

This is interesting in comparison to other seasons, because way back in S1, it was Sam who had the unique t-shirts. Now, Dean suddenly has 2, and Sam has none. My theory: only civilians buy unique t-shirts. ;)

Also, Sam REALLY likes shirts, you guys.

That's all the charts and graphs that I have for now. Many months ago, I was brainstorming new and complicated graphs for this project, so if I can find my notes on those, then I might come up with more graphs. In the meantime, this will have to tide you over.

I'm also thinking of maybe doing a graph that breaks down the shirt category...haven't you wondered just how many plaid shirts Sam owns? What percentage do up with snaps? What percentage are western-cut? (No? Just me then....not surprised. ;) )

*excluding costumes, jeans, generic t-shirts, suits, and shoes, all of which, I do not keep track of (though I may eventually add ties into the mix, we'll see.)

It never ceases to amaze me how you can see the same thing as everyone else and come up with a totally unique yet completely logical statement!!!

Haha, thanks! It's nice to know that I bring something unique to the fandom table. ;)

This is amazing. I need to read it slow and think on it. I do believe everything creatively has a purpose. Even the accidents.

I agree. I'm glad you like it. :) I love to think about this kind of stuff (as I'm sure is evident).

that's very intersting! thanks for the graphs!
and yes, I am interested in the plaid percentage cause I love every single one!

That'll be my next graphing project then :)

I just did a post with some more graphs (clothing by origin).

Interesting that Dean didn't buy more new clothes as a civilian. I guess hunter-wardrobe also works for construction, but you'd think he'd have something a little different for off-work hours. Maybe one more sign he wasn't quite ready to give it all up?

It does make sense that robo!Sam would have some new clothes, since he wouldn't have had access to all of Sam's things. I guess Dean might have left Sam's duffel at Bobby's, though. Hmmm..

Anyway, fabulous work as always, bb!

Maybe he bought more shirts and civilian gear when he lived with Lisa but maybe he just left like 90% of them behind at Lisa's because he doesn't need them and they don't have a place in his hunter life. Like that really really *hot* short-sleeve black shirt he wears during the BBQ bit of the montage but disappears the rest of the season.

This has been what I always assumed. Makes me wonder what Lisa did with it all...

[identity profile] nwspaprtaxis.livejournal.com 2011-12-12 05:49 pm (UTC)(link)
I just assumed she gave it all away to a Salvation Army or Goodwill store or even one of those thrift shops where you get a portion of the cut when it sells. But she might've kept one or two of them.... God knows I would've....

Thanks!!

I agree with nwspaprtaxis, in that Dean could have had more clothes than we see in here...but, that begs the question: Did he still leave clothes behind when he left Lisa and Ben for good in 6x21?

[identity profile] nwspaprtaxis.livejournal.com 2011-12-12 05:51 pm (UTC)(link)
I think he did because we never see him go back to her house. He just leaves them at the hospital. So I've always assumed he had some still there (said 90%) and just never collected them. Which probably confused the holy heck out of Lisa when she got back home... Unless she'd gotten rid of most of them by then because he wasn't even really staying over anymore.

LOL! I'm actually working on a fic where Sam is trying to figure out some discrepancies between when he went into the pit and when he woke up - I'm tempted to include this if it fits and you don't mind? (In which case, do you remember off the top of your head any particular 'broken-in' item of clothing that was new in early season 6 and still around in the latter half of the season? Just if you know offhand - I'm not asking you to research that!)

And have I mentioned lately how awesome you are?

[identity profile] hells-half-acre.livejournal.com 2011-12-12 05:21 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't mind if you fit that in - it just makes logical sense to me.

The problem is, given Sam's tendency to wear things only once or twice per season, that I can't really tell what would be more "broken-in" than others. He wears his jackets the most before he returns "Sam's Brown Suede Jacket" and "Sam's Blue Jacket."

As for shirts, he wakes up in a shirt he didn't own before "Sam's Yellow and Blue Plaid 'Re-Soulling' Shirt" ...for a shirt that might be broken in - Sam (and Jared, who wore it to a Con) seem to favour "Sam's "Returning" Plaid Shirt."

And thanks for saying that I'm awesome :)

hahaha oh man this is awesome. I can`t wait to get my season 6 dvd`s back from my sister so I can rewatch for the clothing.

It's fun times! I'm probably going to do up some more graphs tonight.
