Etsy Shop

I have opened an etsy shop.

So far, the only thing there is the pattern for my Supernatural Tattoo Pillow.
no title

I'll add more stuff in the future though - I want to do a Captain America Shield Pillow too, eventually, but I want that pattern to be round, which means that it'll be 100% harder to make.

I haven't decided yet if I'm going to offer physical items. I know not everyone can crochet, so some people might want me to make the SPN pillow for them, for example, and ship it to them in a box. So, that's something I could possibly put in the shop in the future.

I was also thinking of making cat-toys. I've got some cat-nip and I could do little geeky things like... Captain America's shield or other geeky things?

Anyway, if you think of any patterns you think I should make or physical objects that I should offer, let me know.

Also, my shop is super bare bones right now in terms of graphics and whatnot. If anyone has the means to make me a cool 760x100 px banner or has other suggestions for how I can make the place look more awesome, well, that would be welcomed.

Look what I made!

Cool, eh?

How did I do it? Well, LET ME TELL YOU....

And there you have it!

It only took me 60 hours spread over 1.25 years to make!

I promised pictures, so here they are!

At the end of February, I made a joke on my FB about how I haven't been able to afford a haircut, and as a result, I have "Winter Soldier Hair" - well, naturally, many of my friends decided that I HAD to do the costume. Since I was planning to go to ECCC at the end of March, I thought, sure, why not!

Well, really, it was because my friend, Tash, commented and said "I know how to make costumes. I can help." And since I don't know how to make costumes, I was like "this is the only way that this costume will happen, so, yes, please." It took us about 4 working days in total when it came down to it. Plus, some last minute trouble shooting on my end, but we managed to pull it off!

Pictures! )

I might do another post about ECCC itself, we'll see... it DID kick off with not only meeting Kelly Sue DeConnick, but also escorting her to her booth! So, that was cool! :)

Etsy?

Does anyone have an experience with selling things on etsy?

I've been debating whether I should try opening an etsy shop for the crochet items I make. Like... the supernatural pillows... or I just made a vest for my sister that's quite nice....

But yeah, I'm not sure if it's a good idea or not. I mean, I probably couldn't make much money off of it, if you consider the time it takes me to make an item....

Blah.... I'm just trying to figure out how to make money, since I don't have a job and I've kinda been a bit pessimistic this week about my chances of ever finding something or ever finding something that doesn't suck the life out of me.

Anyway, check out the cool vest I made for my sister:

And if you don't remember what my Supernatural pillow looks like:

FYI, if I had like $300 I could totally make a Supernatural blanket.

I've also made things like this stripey horse toy:

In other news, I'll probably do a rewatch tomorrow. I've found that I can either do a rewatch, or I can work on one of my writing projects, but I can't do both on the same day. So, today I'm writing some demeted'verse (I've got 5 chapters of the next installment done so far).

Anyway, if any of you have experience selling handmade items on the interwebs, let me know!

It's Arts and Crafts time!  I have finished making my first Supernatural pillow! I designed the crochet pattern myself. (It still needs a few tweaks, but it's just nitpicky stuff, because I think the pillow looks pretty damn good the way it is.)

I don't have a working camera at the moment, so you'll have to settle for cellphone pics...but check it out:

It measures 13"x13" (and I didn't even do that on purpose.)

Also plants...because you can't have Dean without Sam )

Check out what I made!

It's for my niece.

For those of you who have never seen Avatar: The Last Airbender (the series, not the horrible film). The symbol on the pillow is the symbol for water-bending (the ability to control water.) My niece really likes the show (because she is awesome and has good taste), and she really likes the characters of Katara and Sokka, who are both from the Water Tribe. Anyway, yeah, I decided to make her this pillow. Hopefully she likes it. And if you don't know A:TLA, you should watch it. It's super awesome.

The design is actually from a pattern that I found online for a blanket. I have already made the blanket for myself, so all I did to make the pillow was use a much smaller crochet hook than I did for the blanket - and that effectively shrunk the design to the size of a pillow (rather than 1/4 of a blanket). Both sides of the pillow look exactly the same. It measures 16''x16''. I stuffed it myself and then crocheted it shut with the fringe.

Although someone else made this particular pattern, I did figure out how to make my own crochet patterns on my computer. So I'm going to make myself a Supernatural pillow next.

ETA: The blanket pattern and a picture of the blanket for those who might want to use the pattern themselves.
