Random sidenote: Did you know that I didn't know Oregon was on the coast until I was well into high school? I grew up in Ontario and we just never really learned US geography (or I missed that day, or something) and to me 'Oregon' sounded like one of those flat middle states, so I just assume it was there. Then a friend of mine from Minnesota/Wisconsin went there on a trip and sent me a picture in an email, and I was like "Mountains? Ocean? What the?" and he was like "...um, where did you think Oregon WAS?!" And that was when I had to admit that I had no idea.
Anyway, fun times. But whenever people make fun of Americans not knowing world geography, I always think of that and think that there's always something you don't know.
