And I love that. Especially since Garth was written off, and he's the only (prominent/frequently recurring) character I can think of who might also just be nice.

True! Interesting parallel between those two characters. And I liked Garth for many of the same reasons that I like Donna in this episode - the fact that he showed that you could be a hunter without having a super tragic past or being emotionally messed up because of it. Garth was always happy and emotionally centered.

Did he straight-up pull that off the shelf purely so he could use it to illustrate his point to Sam?

LOL. I bet he really did just pull it down so he could yell about it to Sam. :P

Also, I don't ship them, mostly because I have a completely different crackship for Jody that makes absolutely no sense outside of my head and yet has taken over my life, especially given that I don't really ship in this fandom...but I really want them to stick together and adopt each other as like sisters or something.

I could totally get behind them as sisters too. Really, I'm not like a stringent "shipper" when I say that I ship people, I mostly just mean that I want them to hang out. Unless I'm talking about Steve Rogers and Bucky Barnes... or Benton Fraser and RayK. I think those are the only two. Though, even then, I really really love the concept of romantic-friendships.
