Learning from that might be why we saw Sam not looking too and the fact was Sam was distraught and went driving, hit a dog and met Dr. vet...... That's a better explanation then it was before.
Yes, this did make me feel better about S8, because it completely explains Sam's reasoning for not looking for Dean. Mind you, I still have problems with that arc because Sam SHOULD have still looked for Kevin. But, I'll give him crazy-grief or something as an excuse for that.
Have to say Dean's face when Sam said that - Dean didn't hear Sam - he heard the soulless Sam - I don't really care about you..... that's what is going to be interesting to see what they do and where they go from here.
