In that sense, John's appeal to Sherlock and Arthur's appeal to Merlin are actually pretty similar...
They are. Just don't let Sherlock hear you say that... ;)
Wow, that'd be a long time. If I remembered correctly, isn't Sherlock S3 going to come out, like, at the end of this year or something? *panics*
Yes. That's why it's my official stance. I just don't want to get anyone's hopes up that I'll be any quicker. :P
Also, I see that Sherlock and Merlin, as geniuses, have got pretty different ways of thinking and deducing, Sherlock's more complex and Merlin's more direct(it's almost like an intuition). I'd really love to see who would work it out first if they start at the same case at the same time ;)
Yes, you nailed it on the head there. Merlin, arguably, is actually smarter and quicker than Sherlock when it comes right down to it. That being said, Merlin doesn't have much interest in solving crimes... also, I'm not particularly good at writing crimes/cases. :P
But yes, if they did work on a case together, Merlin would probably be quicker with the stuff that pertained to living people and motivations for the murder, but Sherlock would probably have a greater knowledge of the chemistry/forensics of the death and decay of the body and what that means in terms of the hows and whys of the murder.
