Oh yeah, I think you are right about the "moose" thing.

At this point though, Sam didn't know that he was working for Crowley. Someone else tipped me off in the comments above though, and said that the writers still hadn't decided if Sam would know that he was working for Crowley or not, which is why the line is in there - they then decided that he wouldn't know, so now it's kind of erroneous.
