Well, I will say that both Californians and Nevadans in my experience do love their back decks. Maybe it's a West Coast thing? We may slouch on the front porches, but not on the decks.

And this has been relatively true even here in Tahoe, where all the snow makes decks impractical. Everyone's got one. And they're huuuge.
