I knew the girls had to be thinking Dean was good looking! It just wouldn’t be normal for a teenage girl not to (hee-hee)!
Dean really does crack me up with all the random thoughts you put in his head – Harry having a “strange fetish for medieval tapestry art” – house-elves making him think of Jurassic Park 2 – realising Winky’s speech was “some sort of Yoda deal” – brain connection: alcoholic house-elf = hilarious = Dean can get alcohol – all classic! Though he’s so sweet too – big awww when he thought of his memory of Teddy and the fact that no matter what he looked like, his “smile was always the same”.
I imagine Dean was feeling quite conflicted in the kitchens. On the one hand, his natural instinct was to see the house elves as something he’d hunt, but on the other, they bring him any food he desires! Pie, they bring him pie! Personally, I’d think Dean’s stomach would win out any day ;-) And I did like seeing Winky again – you wrote her very well.
You were right, I did enjoy Sam’s library scene, in fact I loved it! As Dean so amusingly thought, Sam had indeed “found his people”! (One little thing: is Dean just colour blind? Or did you mean blue patches on the robes?) The Ravenclaws’ reactions were amusing – loved how the girl held her ground after tattling about Sam stabbing the book (sacrilege, I’d think to a Ravenclaw)! And the other girl who asked why they were researching the apocalypse reminded me of Hermione (though I image she wouldn’t have let it go, even with the interruption!).
When you said in your summary that there was going to be an unexpected houseguest, I took a moment to think who it could be and I certainly didn’t think of Castiel! (Though I did think of Bobby.) Still, very good to see Castiel. I do love his language and reactions to things – so hilarious (loved his little dig at Dean after Ginny’s apology for stunning him)! And I must say, great reflexes Ginny – and for standing up to the angel about the boys needing 8 hours sleep – go girl!
Somehow though, I don’t think Harry will be able to talk his way out of things with Dean about how he knew who Castiel was. Though I do agree with him in his assessment that Draco will like Castiel (I look forward to the meeting). ;-)
