Yeah, I don't think Dean really realized what he was asking! Dean often speaks before thinking, just as Sam tends to think too much before speaking :-P

Poor Sammy indeed. It's how I interpreted his hallucination of Dean in 4x22. It used to be Dean that was afraid of abandonment, but I think they've switched roles there. We will definitely never abandon Sam! And neither will Dean! Awww, I love these boys.
