I only did extra work once (so far), but I loved this video about the "business" of being an extra:

My favourite line is the guy asking for a pen. It's basically the only thing besides yourself that need to bring with you (and clothes), yet a great number of experienced people seem not to.

While we're on the subject of vids, I'm up to 1:20 in making my video! Yay! I still have to download some eps, but things are ticking along nicely now that I've got my editing software woes taken care of. :)

Your result for The Sorting Hat: A Comprehensive Harry Potter Personality Assessment [Test/Quiz]...

Ravenclaw

55% Ravenclaw, 50% Hufflepuff, 50% Slytherin and 41% Gryffindor!

Or yet in wise old Ravenclaw,

if you've a ready mind,

Where those of wit and learning,

Will always find their kind;

The cardinal traits of Ravenclaw are intellect, wit and openness to experience. They are the most introverted house of the four. Ravenclaws are more likely to prefer small gatherings of like-minded individuals and require recooperation after stressful social interaction. These individuals are intuitive creatures, the quintessential researchers. They lack the stubborn, strict, and rule-abiding qualities that would inhibit intellectual growth—one can't be too set in their ways if they are to be open to exploring new ideas and paths of thought. In contrast to Slytherin and Gryffindor, Ravenclaws in general are much more emotionally stable. Their reactions seem dampened compared to the sometimes dramatic responses of the other houses—they're much less likely to get offended, they're more open to criticism, not particularly argumentative and interested in hearing different points of view. They can at times seem to be less interested in people and more interested in their own inner world, and appear to be disconnected from the rest of humanity.

Ambition is secondary to them. Although they may strive to excel in school, knowledge and self-enrichment is the primary goal as opposed to simply wanting good marks. If they do happen to strive for excellence, it is because it fits with their other goals, not out of a desire to be superior or the best. Due to their intuitiveness and willingness to listen, Ravenclaws can be empathetic and make good advisors. They should generally leave leadership roles to people who are more extraverted and who would enjoy them more, however.

Wow. Pretty spot on, I'd say. Mind you, maybe it's like horoscopes and I'd relate in part to every house. ETA: Nope, I just read the other houses and quite frankly, I only WANTED to belong to Ravenclaw or maybe Hufflepuff - I did not like the sound of any of the other houses and they certainly didn't sound like me. So, accurate quiz is accurate.

LOL -  "the quintessential researchers" - may I direct your attention to my extremely accurate Supernatural Timeline and my Complete Catalogue of Clothes :P

Also, my "openness to experience" has served me VERY well in life - just saying. ;)

Oh, and I love this - "prefer small gatherings of like-minded individuals" - has anyone ever noticed that my flist is titled "Like-minded individuals and communities" ? Like I said, pretty spot on, quiz!

I`m still "away" (the careful eye may notice the French keyboard)...but I have a moment, so here`s something funny from my day:

Me and my friend went to the local used book store to rummage through their English-language section. There were a LOT of very old books...you know, the kind with the cheesy 70s covers.

One of them was:

Women in White by Frank G. Slaughter

My first thought: oh man, that can`t end well.

:P

For those who might be interested: Ewan McGregor and Chris O'Dowd were on the Graham Norton show. They are hilarious. As a bonus, Ewan McGregor talks about the time he filmed a sex scene with Batman (Christian Bale).

There's the full episode on youtube HERE. (no embedding).

I also love it because when Graham does the website thing - you discover that Ewan is the type of laugher who falls into whoever he is sitting beside...I love it when people laugh like that.

Actually, I'll embed that bit:

Hi everybody,

I'm thinking of getting a tumblr, just because I'm sick of checking all my favourite tumblr accounts individually...I want to have a dashboard. Also, the egotistical part of me thinks it would be cool to have an ask box. Anyway, something I'm mulling over...

So, I'm not sure if you heard, but last week Vancouver had a bit of a riot...here are a few funny things:

1. A cute conversation between brothers:

On the night of the riot, we were sitting up on a roof top enjoying the sunset. We saw the smoke start billowing out of downtown and immediately brought out our smart phones to check the news. My sister's boyfriend decided that he better call his younger brother who had gone downtown to watch the game - just to make sure that he was alright. My sister's boyfriend is 6'4'' (like a certain Moose) and his brother is a big guy too - so the concern was that the police/people would see his brother as a threat just because he's big, and not because of his behaviour. So, he gets on the phone, and this is the conversation I hear:

"Hey man"
...
"I know, it sucks. Where are you?"
...
"Your brother!"
...
"Look man, people are burning cars. It's all over the news. The police are going in. I think you should get out of there."
...
"Yeah, you head to the mountains, Grizzly."

2. Roof Raccoons can riot too:

There's a cute little raccoon that likes to climb on our roof and eat bugs out of the eaves. This morning, I discovered that it had been busy while I slept:

3. This song:

I have had it stuck in my head for several days!

In other news: I've been writing a demented'verse piece for the past month or so. It's currently at 8,000 words and I WANT TO  FINISHED IT! Ugh...I'm so excited to share it, but I'm still a ways off from finishing, so, here's a teaser:

Read it! )

Anyway...I guess that's all that's up with me. I've got about 3 more weeks in Vancouver, and then I'm heading back home to Ontario until VanCon. I'm really looking forward to it! :)

I don't have a tumblr, so I can't reblog this post...so please go HERE and read this gif-story that pretty much sums up what it's like to show any show you are obsessed with to your non-show-watching friends.

In other news, I've found a job at a library that I'm going to apply to, so there might be a chance that I won't be homeless by June. Keep your fingers crossed for me.

Also, once again, I'll be reviewing the Supernatural episode once I get home from my friend's place tonight. I make no guarantees on how drunk/sober I'll be - also, the hilarity of my reviews depends on the content of the episode, and somehow I get the feeling that now that we're in the homestretch the episodes might not be as hilarious as they have been recently. So, yeah, review will appear sometime around midnight/1am PST.

Enjoy your day!

Found this on tumblr today:

Things that confirm my sexual preferences....

I fell in love at 1:39 ;)

WATCH IT!

I love humans.

hells_half_acre: (Sherlock)
So, one thing I love about getting into new shows is learning about new actors. Because I don't like The Office (UK or American versions), I didn't really know about Martin Freeman before I started watching Sherlock. The only thing I had ever seen him in was his very naked part in Love Actually (which I quite enjoyed).

But, when you get into new shows these days - and you are aware online fandom, you can find great clips from actors previous work...like THIS VIDEO of Martin Freeman with Ali G (someone else I'm not a huge fan of.)

Seriously CLICK AND WATCH THE VIDEO.

Not only is it hilarious, it also shows what a great actor Martin Freeman is....and illustrates why I can never be an actor. I'd never be able to commit so whole-heartedly to being that much of an idiot.

I lived in the same city as him briefly...alas, we never met.

Anyway, off to go procrastinate some more....
hells_half_acre: (laughing)
This appeared on my twitter feed, and I couldn't help but post it here:

(The bit about the TV rescheduling comes at the end, but watch the whole thing...)

I love it - though, it also makes me miss hanging out with my guy friends.

Enjoy!

Hitler reacts to the CW scheduling change:

(It's always a bit weird to watch these, since I understand German...but man, I love them.)

Click the fake cut to see a name-redacted version of my sister's facebook status and the resulting frenzied conversation...you never know what's going to spark a hot debate on Facebook.

I especially like the way my sister chose to bring the debate to a close.

I was amused, anyway.

Fun Caps

I've updated If Clothes Could Talk to include S5 for the clothing entries I already have posted. I've also resumed posting new entries! (I'm still working on clothing introduced in S2).

In celebration, here is something pretty:

hells_half_acre: (laughing)

OH MY GOD! FUNNIEST THING EVER!

Poor boys. I must say that I completely agree.
hells_half_acre: (laughing)
I have a lot to do these days. I have:

1. My Job (which I hate)
2. My If Clothes Could Talk Series (which is temporarily on hold while I do the next two things)
3. My Rewatch of S5/Timeline work (which is CRAZY FUN TO DO!)
4. Vile Violent Vacations (which is also fun, but dudes, writing is hard sometimes!)

So, yeah, I'm a little stressed out, and when I get stressed out, I procrastinate like a crazy-person, because I'm illogical like that.

Lately, I discovered Mark Reads Harry Potter

Oh my goodness, this guy amuses me. It's really fun to read the chapter by chapter reviews of someone who is somewhat close to my age and has never read the series before. Not to mention that the guy is intelligent and quite hilarious. I may have a little crush on him.

Anyway, I suggest you read it if you want a good laugh - and the ability to relieve the Harry Potter series vicariously through someone else.

ETA: I should also mention that I've developed quite the crush on Mark (sadly, unrequited), and that he has a tendency to spontaneously use Supernatural gifs to illustrate how he feels...which means that Mark is even more awesome than your average Harry Potter fan. ;)
hells_half_acre: (Hug)
Because who doesn't like it when Dean wears Sam's clothes?

I just posted the entry for Sam's Brown Corduroy Jacket. (Appearances up until the end of S4).

Only 2 more new coats for S2 to post, then I'll do S2's Shirts (including Ts and Henleys).
hells_half_acre: (Ladles are funny)
I have successfully gotten one of my friends into Supernatural to the point where she'll send me emails with links to things that remind her of the show...yay! (My other attempts of getting people in have failed, due to 1)person has nightmares, or 2)person is too busy motorcycling around the world - that one was a long shot to begin with).

I received this in email this morning. It's a classic Dinosaur Comic that I read long before I got into the show...(or the show was even on the air)

Motel Beds

Jul. 6th, 2010 12:25 pm
hells_half_acre: (Sam Winchester Top Chef)
More than a year ago, when I posted Chapter 5 of Damned Demented Demons, I included the fact that Sam would have to sleep diagonally on motel beds.

Some of the people who commented stated that they either hadn't thought of that, or that they agreed because they too had to sleep diagonally. Back then, I wondered if we ever actually saw it in the show - in Scarecrow and Dead Man's Blood, he is sleeping straight, though possibly with bent legs...in Dream A Little Dream Of Me, he falls asleep half-way off the bed.

Then last night I was capping Death Takes a Holiday for the clothing project, and saw this:

Look at him! He looks like he's in a bed from Munchkinland. :-P

Incidentally, I discovered that there were more dates in that episode than I originally caught (that's what I get for doing my rewatch on the crappy TV instead of my computer). So, the Timeline has been updated with alternative dates for episodes 4x11-4x16 (Family Remains to On The Head of a Pin). Basically, I've included two options that you can mix and match as you see fit.
hells_half_acre: (Don't Litter)
Since pointing out that I posted the iconic Charcoal Hoodie entry yesterday went over so well, I figured I would get down to business and post the entry for...

DEAN'S RED PLAID SHIRT OF ANGST! (Warning: basically a picspam of all appearances! 10 caps in total).

It's really the shirt that inspired the whole project.

I mean, how can it not?...
